Other
Tracking Systems |
| Setup
and monitoring costs |
Uses
the internet to dramatically lower costs. You don't need
to establish a "base station" with special computer hardware
or phone lines and pay expensive software licence fees. |
You
need to install a PC, often with special phone lines and
modems and you pay a high fee for a licence to use the
tracking software. For fleet owners this is expensive.
For individuals it is prohibitive. |
Ongoing computer costs |
Nil
- mi-Trek uses your existing PC or Mac and internet connection. |
Fleet owners must ensure their tracking system is working
properly and reliably either by employing computer support
personnel or taking out a support contract. |
Alarm notification |
Sends short messages to any number of SMS -compatible
phones. Your colleagues or family can also receive the
message at the same time, ensuring effective communications.
|
Alarms appear on the special tracking PC. You must either
continually monitor the PC or pay expensive monitoring
fees to an agency to monitor alarms on your behalf. |
Internet Tracking |
You can track your vehicle from anywhere there is Internet
Access using a standard web browser. |
You can only track using the special PC. If you are away
from the PC, you cannot track your vehicle(s). If you
use an agency then you have to rely on them to track your
vehicle(s). |
Software Updates |
As we continually enhance our tracking software, the updates
will be available to you next time you log in. |
You must install updates from CD or disk. These updates
will often require additional payments. |
Coverage |
Uses digital mobile phone technology (GSM) for cost effective
coverage of most major cities and highways. There is a
CDMA option for coverage in rural areas. |
Some other tracking systems use radio networks which are
confined to major capitals only and have no highway coverage.

Overview
of mi-Trek
mi-Trek
is an Australian designed vehicle tracking and alarm management
system which allows vehicles to be tracked using a standard
web browser - anywhere, anytime.
Satellite
Tracking
The
mi-Trek tracking unit uses sophisticated satellite global
positioning technology (GPS) to locate your vehicle anywhere
in the world to an accuracy of 10 metres*.
Digital
Mobile Phones
To
access the position of your vehicle, the mi-Trek tracking
unit includes a digital mobile phone (GSM). The phone unit
is compatible with any phone provider you wish, so it can
be added to your existing mobile phone account.
If
your vehicle spends extended time outside mobile phone coverage
then it can be configured to memorise positions and tell you
where it has been when it re-enters a coverage area.
For
extended operation outside mobile phone coverage areas we
have options which include satellite phones.
Alarm

The
mi-Trek tracking unit includes inputs which can be wired up
to almost any sensor. The range of alarm options and advance
options are wide and includes:
- Ignition

activate equipment in the event of an alarm. For example,
an output can be connected to a vehicle immobiliser.

you a short message on your mobile phone. This means you can
receive a message almost anywhere:

Airport Lounges

mi-Trek
allows you to send alarms to more than one mobile phone. You
can enter the numbers of colleague, staff or family to ensure
